Helping 99% of the country benefits the top 1%. Social Security brings dignity to seniors who need income later in life. Medicare treats those in need. SNAP puts food on the table so families can focus on other problems. S-CHIP Health insurance for children creates the next healthy generation. Unemployment checks are spent on food/goods/rent/gas and go directly back into the economy.
Society is not burdened with these real life issues because we as a country have learned, from hard times in our history, it is the right thing to provide help. Suffering is not what America stands for.
Social justice is not a market or a stock to be bought and sold for profit, it is a right. In a morally sound, good economy, a rising tide lifts all boats.
here’s the difference and it’s not complicated—every dollar given to someone who “needs” it, is going to be immediately spent on said needs and contributes 100% to the cash-flow cycle of the economy. when people are spending money this creates confidence—confidence is economic lube. every dollar given to a “job creator,” however, first sits in a vault with a lot of other cash until maybe it’s spent on job creation or a new yacht, or maybe not. but for sure, it’s “real” contribution to the economy is worth only a fraction of it’s actual value at the time it’s handed out—it’s still only a promise and one without merit — as you can’t expand a business or create jobs if there’s no one out there to buy your products (no confidence). consumer confidence stays low, no jobs are created. simple. (shit, just look at the banks, a trillion dollar bail-out and what are they doing with the money[have you tried to get a loan?], sitting on it. and why would you lend out money without expectation of being paid back. exactly. put it in the people’s pockets instead and lubricate the machine.)
put a dollar at the bottom, it’s immediately utilized.
put a dollar at the top, it collects interest.
“trickle-down” economics is a scam. it’s a euphemism for “thanks-for-voting-us-into-power-you-fucking-dolts,-now-we’re-gonna-rob-the-treasury-and-spit-in-your-eye-and-tell-you-we’re-just-trying-to-get-the-mud-out-so-you-can-see-clearly-how-we’re-fucki—,-I-mean-helping-you-out.” thanks ronald and republickers.
